Why do we have our Christian Value?
The purpose is to provide our children with the skills and tools for the development of the whole of themselves for their future. We want them to recognise that the they are made up of physical, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual parts.
The aims are:
- To help children think about and reflect on different values and the skills to talk about them to other children and adults;
- To deepen their understanding and responsibility to make positive personal and social choices;
- To inspire them to choose their own personal, social, moral, and spiritual values and be aware of practical ways for learning about them and showing them to other people;
- To encourage adults to look at their education as providing them with a way of living, thereby developing their own overall growth, development, and choices so they may join together into the community with respect, confidence, and purpose.
What do we do with our Christian Values?
Throughout the month of each value, the children undertake work in Personal, Health and Social Education (PHSE) and Citizenship. We use our Christian Values to help us with this part of the children's education. They also undertake independent projects that may work towards the values.
Within our other lessons, such as English, maths, science, history, RE, geography, etc, we make links with what the children are learning and the Christian Value. For example: with the value of co-operation, in PE we will look at and how to take turns, in maths working as part of a group to solve problems; with the value of respect we might look at how to respect our bodies in science by the food that we eat, getting enough sleep, not taking drugs, etc.
